It was great to meet all of the teachers that stopped by the Covalent Learning Forum table at the Resource Fair! Thanks to all of you, the AIU, and the Carnegie Science Center!
We hope that you have a great 2015-2016 school year, so let us know how we can help!
Happy National Teacher Appreciation Day to all of you who are committed to teaching high school, undergraduate, and graduate students! It is inspirational to work with all of you! Don't forget! The Covalent Learning Forum is here to provide motivation, assistance, and innovative ideas to you and your students!
Thank you to Carnegie Mellon's CNAST outreach program, DNAZone, for hosting the Covalent Learning Forum today! Welcome to all of you who are just checking out the site!
For those of you who don't know what DNAZone is, please check it out! The program includes a Classroom Kit Lending Library for 4-12 grades, science demonstrations on campus and in the community, and many other teaching programs! http://www.cmu.edu/cnast/outreach-dnazone/ The members of this Forum were able to organize a field trip for a class of bioengineering students from Montour High School! The class was able to visit the Computational and Systems Biology Department at the University of Pittsburgh. Thank you to everyone who made this experience a possibility!
The Covalent Learning Forum was introduced to the Kitty Whisperers from Baden Academy Media Lab. Check them out here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwFF5PKc0JvmYRYPR_7co60SK2R2IuZg3
These young ladies are interested in how feline genetics are different than human genetics, and we got some interesting responses about feline taste and eye health. Thanks to Ellen and Will! Thanks to Cathy, Taylor, and Cheryl for their discussion about spectrophotometer optics and getting some older "specs" up and running! We hope that your labs are going well!
Thank you to the Allegheny Intermediate Unit and the Chemistry and Physics Network teachers for hosting the Covalent Learning Forum (on such a cold and icy day!)
